Check-in begins at 4 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM. We’ll be ready for you at four, and you have until eleven to say goodbye.
Guests must be at least 21 years old to make a reservation.
For reservations booked at the Standard Daily Rate, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due and will be charged on the date of arrival.
For Standard Daily Rate reservations, cancellations made at least 14 days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit, less a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations made fewer than 14 days before arrival will result in forfeiture of the 50% deposit. As of the arrival date, reservations are fully non-refundable and the remaining balance will be charged.
Discounted rates requiring a 100% advance deposit are non-refundable if canceled at any time. Same-day cancellations, no-shows, and early departures will result in all payments collected being retained.
A 10% commission on the room rate is available for eligible transient reservations booked at the Standard Daily Rate. Promotional, negotiated, group, package, and other discounted rates are not commissionable. A valid IATA, ARC, TIDS, or CLIA number must be provided at booking, and commission is paid after guest departure.
Group bookings are handled through the group contracting process, with any applicable commission confirmed in the agreement.
Yes. Complimentary on-site parking is included with your stay, so you can pull in, settle in, and leave the car behind until the next outing.
We do! Next-day laundry service is available for a fee, and same-day service may be available when items are received before noon.

Traveling with the whole crew? Reservations of six or more guest rooms for the same dates under a single arrangement are considered group bookings. From family reunions and celebrations to retreats and other gatherings, we’d be happy to welcome everyone. Deposit and cancellation policies may vary, so contact us directly to start planning.
You’re close to both. Downtown Bar Harbor is less than a 10-minute drive away, while the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia National Park is just a half mile around the corner. More time exploring, less time getting there.
We love four-legged travel companions, but pets are not permitted at Salt Cottages. Trained service dogs are always welcome.
Yes. Daily housekeeping is included, so you can head out for the day and come back to a freshly tidied space.
Yes. Picnic has you covered from morning coffee to afternoon treats, with breakfast, easy bites, ice cream, soft drinks, and adult beverages. You can also order ahead and we’ll have everything ready when you are.
Yes. All accommodations have air conditioning and heating to keep things comfortable throughout your stay.
Pack and plays are available upon request, so be sure to let us know when booking as quantities are limited. While we don’t offer rollaway beds, many cottages have pullout sofas for additional guests and children. Visit our Accommodations page to find the sleeping setup that works best for your stay.
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout Salt Cottages, whether you’re settling in for the night or spending some downtime around the property.
Every room and cottage must have an adult age 18 or older staying overnight. Children and guests under 18 may not stay in an accommodation on their own.

Our heated outdoor pool is open daily from 9 AM to 10 PM throughout the season, with two hot tubs nearby when you’re ready for a soak.
The front desk is staffed daily from 7 AM to 10 PM. Arriving after 10 PM? Just let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure you have everything you need to settle in when you get here.
Salt Cottages is open seasonally from mid-May through mid-October, just in time to make the most of summer and early fall in Bar Harbor.
